[ Anaxagoras takes a gulp of his drink when indulging a bit, as he is wont to do, even while listening to her speak. ]

Did you end up dealing with those annoying skeletons as well?

Ah, no, we had...Frankenstein? A monster of sorts. [English majors everywhere screech in outrage]

No, it was rather easy...even after it came back as tiny fifteen smaller pieces.

[ Anaxagoras decisively can't help but think that such a creature is a nuisance...even more than skeletons. ]

Fifteen smaller pieces? I'm surprised it didn't turn into too much of a bigger annoyance from that alone.

Anaxagoras doesn't think it, but he arrives out on the central field.

More or less due to coincidence, than anything else. Thereupon doing so, he spots someone...what is she up to? ]

Oh, professor, is that you?

We successfully set it on fire and got some paint for our efforts.

[holds up red and pink paint]

Would you like to try? It tastes like cherry.

[ Anaxagoras looks at her as she is picking flowers in her bloodstained dress and searches for some words. ]

It is.

...I'm surprised you didn't want to grab something else to wear. Doesn't that feel unpleasant?

[anaxagoreia]

[ Anaxagoras puts a hand to his face. ]

No.

...But, why are you going around eating paint?

[ Because that is not what he expected. Isn't that unhealthy? Not that he can talk about healthy things he's doing, but still. He doesn't eat or lick paint! ]

[ A tiny bit defensive as she pours a load of flavoured syrup in her drink. She likes the feeling of being buzzed but not the taste]

It said it tasted like cherry!

[ He just watches her pout...and merely downs the rest of his as is before pouring another without batting an eyelid. ]

...And you didn't get sick?

Eh. I've had to eat worse. [At least it tasted like something?] Though, I'm not sure what I can do with just red and pink paint but paint hearts or creepy things.

I thought...flowers for the dead would be nice. And then a funeral song to send them off properly. I was in such a rush, I didn't think...

[It does feel horribly, horribly unpleasant, itchy against her skin. But she ignores it like she's been ignoring everything else]

Worse than paint?

As it is, I wouldn't call myself any kind of artist. But, buildings can be applicable as well. Flowers too.

[ But, ignoring the elephant in the room doesn't serve anyone well - particularly if it's the clothing the person is wearing in the first place. ]

Flowers for the dead is logical. Maybe this is even expected.

Are there any kind in particular you're looking for? The sooner they're gathered, the quicker you don't have to continue like this.

[ It isn't too physically extraneous for him to assist, at any rate. ]

I mean. Um. Uh--do you want the paints then?

Lilies are what I helped gather when the elderly died at the Heartfelt Home. I'm not sure their song would suit though...we don't have palm trees here.

[ Maybe this will help her relax]

[ Like rats, she says...Anaxagoras hears this and his expression is certainly along the lines of unreadable, because that isn't what he's expecting. Then when she shifts gears, he does say: ]

I'm not the type of person who can pretend who hasn't heard such a statement.

[ Just going to straight up say that! ]

But, I will also say that I've no interest in paints. I'm not much of a painter.

Y-you should be polite and pretend! I don't want to remember that time.

Their song? How would the palm trees factor into this?

[ Anaxagoras doesn't exactly know too much about her work at the Heartfelt Home, and this is probably the first he's heard of it, in fact.

As for her inquiry, though? His expression turns a bit more severe. ]

Yes. I was caught off guard by the display. [ A free admission. Maybe surprising, but he has no reason to hide it. ] I'll admit I have seen quite a bit, but I wasn't expecting what I had. There is no meaning in pretending otherwise.

Where we lived had many palm trees. A raging river. And it was always so warm, with so much rain.

[ She hums the first few bars, a pretty little tune, as she finishes gathering her flowers and thoughts]

I did not. The blood didn't really bother me though.

[ She's a little numb to that sort of thing now]

But it made me sad...for both Reiju and Yuki. They didn't deserve that.
