HISTORY

Nala Hari could hardly remember how Mata Hari made her way into the glamorous celebrity circles. As far as she could recall, life had always been kind to her. While the power of succubi sometimes caused them a few problems, none of them ever seemed too troubling. Under her sister's protection, Nala rarely encountered any real hardships, nor did she need to prepare herself for human society. But everything changed the day Mata was executed.

Mata Hari's reputation and extravagant lifestyle brought unwanted attention to all succubi in the country. To escape the hunters and their raids, Nala fled and led an incognito life. On those rare occasions when she didn't fall asleep hungry, she found her memory of those warm, safe, and satisfying nights grew fuzzy, like a distant dream.

Despite her best effort to escape, Nala was eventually captured and bound to a contract item-an ugly wind-up toy. Inside the toy was a huge space, where countless contract spells formed a labyrinth. She's trapped inside, her power sealed by the spells within. At her new masters' command, she became their weapon, now known as Ms. Kimberly.

PERSONALITY

Anjo Nala is a rather childish woman who doesn't always quite understand the social norms of humans. Having lived most of her life either on the run or controlled to do horrific acts against her will, Anjo Nala's first reaction is to either bite, run or pretend to be an innocent girl. Although she was used as a murdering tool for some period of time, it is apparent killing because it is "fun" sickens her, and she hates the thought of killing people who are innocent and good hearted.

Deep down, despite her succubus desire for "life" and a rather flippant way of treating her kills as long as it's in defence of herself, Anjo Nala's greatest desire is to have a family and home she can call her own. When allowed to be truly herself, she is gentle and sweet, pouring in her affection into her people in an overwhelming way, as Vertin learns later on. Her affection can be oppressive, and her desire for love can be even moreso, but when she decides someone is her "person", she will listen well to them alone.

It can be said that love and hatred are two sides of the same coin; as a succubus, Anjo Nala has plenty of both.

Anjo Nala performs the Colonel's poem for the elderly, exploring themes of love, death, war, silence, and an elusive "homeland" that is both close and forever out of reach.

Old Quitéria finds Anjo Nala's diary in a box under the bed, only to remember that it was she herself who put it there ten years ago.

Anjo Nala learned to make caipirinha, but one sip left Old Quitéria with a sour taste in her mouth for the rest of the day, no matter what she ate—whether it's bread, sweet potatoes, or bean stew.

While stealing from a kitchen, Kimberly is stopped in her tracks by the sound of a child crying in hunger. Despite her own rumbling tummy, she leaves a jar of stewed potatoes and half a chicken for the child to eat.

Anjo Nala adores certain features of Nautika's physique, especially her claws, which she praises as "beautiful and mesmerizing, just what a true succubus would aspire to have."

Anjo Nala gives up on cooking after burning her fifth chicken, simply because she can't take another bite.
